So many of your photos are so very excellent. I thought I'd seek your opinion on a corollary topic. Printing.

I'm strictly amateur. I shoot a Nikon D80, own a couple of lens, a speedlight and tripod. Better than the average snapshot'r but certainly not a pro setup. I took one picture recently that I'm interested in getting enlarged, framed and hung.

I would provide the printer with a TIFF file.

1. How far can a 10.2MP image be reasonably enlarged?

2. Any specific print service recommendations? Either online or in Manhattan.

I did a little bit of the math and am figuring that 16x20 might be my upper limit...but I'm not certain.I see some diversity of opinion out there on the web.

3872px / 20in = 194ppi
2572px / 16in = 161ppi

Ooo, good idea for an essay. Let me see if I can write that tonight.
