I'm sure they had a good day, even though the mother had to push that heavy-looking stroller.

Bill, I am a photographer from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Came across your photography through dpreview.com, where someone was asking you for your Post-processing steps. You commented yourself that you weren't telling :-).

I have been looking at your images for the past 30 minutes or so and I am very impressed. I like what I see. Quite amazing what you do: the thought that came to me was that you can actually shoot a good portrait with a wide-angle lens.

This particular image though is oddly out of place and I wonder why you placed it. It is, dare I see it, rather out of focus. The eye is drawn all over the place. There must be a reason you like it, but it seems to me this 'snap' does not match the quality of the rest of your portfolio in any way.

Don't really know why I felt compelled to leave a comment. Maybe this image created the occassion for me to say that your work is impressive.

Kind regards,

Rogier

Hi Rogier-

I posted this image mostly because it's not my style at all. It was shot from the hip with my leica while walking. And yes it's out of focus, but that's ok sometimes.. I like the look on the kids faces.

There are times when I try to shoot in styles I would rarely if ever do professionally, if only to keep from getting stuck in my old habits. This is the result of one of those play days.

What You Need To Know

I'm photographer and Brooklynite Bill Wadman, evil-genius responsible for 365portraits.com, a series of portraits I completed at the end of 2007. My subjects have included Buzz Aldrin, Imogen Heap, Tucker Carlson, Jhumpa Lahiri, James Burke, Mo Rocca, and maybe, you.

I shoot portraits professionally, though I experiment in other styles when the mood hits me. I've shot all over the world and my work has been featured in Time, BusinessWeek, Improper Bostonian, The Observer, Times of London, and others. Want to see more? Visit my online portfolio.
