Playing with the AcuteB in a battle with the sun. For those interested, the sun wins. God I wish I could sync faster than 1/180th. Sigh.

Lovely stuff, but what else does one expect from The Wadman? Her eyes in the middle shot are piercing and breathtaking. I love the dress. I'm so proud to have been part of the 365 project!

Bill - fantastic pictures (and a stunning subject, of course). It would be great to understand what lighting was used in these pictures and where they were positioned etc?
Bill,
I am kinda getting jealous of you and your models, they are all so bloody good looking, Brie looks absolutely stunning,so sexy too. Your work is consistently very very good.
Ed.
Stunning! Such a unique look she has, somewhat like Venus as in the "Birth of Venus. Similar hair, features and expression.
Nice set of photos here. I especially like her expression in the first one, although I can see where the sun kinda had you on the ropes.
"God I wish I could sync faster than 1/180th."
Perhaps a Pocket Wizard FlexTT5 can help you beat the sun into submission? I hear 1/500th is possible with HyperSync.
Richard-
Ya, I did some reading on those new PWs. They seem pretty cool, though I'm exactly sold on them. Let's assume 1/500th is possible with my camera and strobe (certainly not guaranteed). I'll gain a stop or a tiny bit more in aperture. So from f/16 to f/11. Well I've heard that as part of this trick, that you loose a little power. So in the end it might be a wash. Nothing's for free. ;-)
My real aim would be to be able to shoot at f/4 or f/5.6 so I could control the depth of field a little bit. Maybe I should start trying my speedlites in high-speed sync.
Brie's expression and dreamy look in the top photo, plus the way her hair contrasts with the blue sky, reminds me somewhat of the expression of the young girl on the famous cover of the album by the band Blind Faith (the cover that caused controversy because the girl, naked, appeared to be so young). It's a delicate, timeless expression and nearly impossible to photograph. Wonderful job, Bill.
