Sorry for the dearth of posts lately, I'm deep in the thick of my October Drabbles project that is taking over what's left of my mind. I do have some thoughts on the process that I'll share when I'm done, but I would like to mention that doing 6-8 hours a day projects every day makes time go much more slowly than normal. My first shoot was exactly a week ago and it feels like it's been at least 2 or 3.
Anyway, here are the two from the last couple of days Henry LaFarge and Francois Morisson. Click through to see them large. Please comment at http://www.billwadman.com/drabbles/

Bill, would you consider sharing your thought process when taking these pictures. The poses are amazing. Do you have a clear idea of what you want before you start, or do you just "blow it as you feel it" during the shoot? Do the subjects provide much input? Is it often/sometimes/never a collaborative effort, where both of you lead each other on?
These pictures are wonderful. I'd love to know more about the way you go about taking them. (I'm not too interested in your post processing techniques. I think you've covered that in a previous post - a long time ago).
Hi Jen-
Well let's see. Sometimes I walk in with nothing, like with Lidia(1) and Francois(7). Sometimes I have a vague idea of the feel I'm looking for, like for Henry(6).
And sometimes I've got a fairly solid idea of what I want. For example, I knew I wanted to put Kathleen on the fire escape in a wet dress. It was supposed to rain that day and so it seemed fitting. However, it didn't rain, and while testing a rim light on her I noticed the composition through the window was better than me out with her, which is what we had been doing. Sometimes things just click.
Today's with Cynthia, she had an idea which we fleshed out together. But hers was a bit more complex because of the water and such. More set up.
So I guess it's a little of all of the scenarios you suggested.
