Good emails

I get a fair amount of email from people I have never met, mostly saying nice things.  But I love when I get one like this:

“Dear Bill

Your  365 portrait  project  has inspired me and lighten up an old forgotten flame of passion to my profession
witch got lost some were on the way of making what you love to do to what you do for a living….
Just wanted to thank you for that.”

‘The Making of Drabbles’ lecture TONIGHT!

Sorry for the late notice, but I’m giving a free lecture tonight at SoHo Photo (15 White St in Manhattan) about the making of Drabbles for the Park West Camera Club. It should be fun and interesting to photographers, and might get a little photoshop nerdy, but that’s ok. I’m usually pretty mum on that subject. So come on down and bring a friend.  It’ll also give you a chance to see the Drabbles prints that are hanging upstairs.

I’m hoping to film the thing as well and put it up on YouTube, we’ll see how that plan goes.

Some Scenery from the Trip

So I’m back from the West and here are some of the results.

By the way, I give Zion an 8 out of 10.  Bryce a 7 out of 10, Antelope Canyon a 6.5 out of 10. and of course the Grand Canyon is a 9 out of 10 but only because I’ve seen it a couple times before.  I had a great time, but am glad to be out from behind the wheel of a car.

Now I’ve got to get back to more Drabbles in the coming weeks.

October Project – STRIKING

The Deal
I will be shooting another daily portrait project in October, so I’ve got 31 slots available.

What I’m looking for are people that can be described as ‘Striking’.  This could mean beautiful in that weird model, Gemma Ward/Lily Cole way, or just someone that makes you do a mental double-take when you see them and say “Wow, he’s interesting looking.” or “Wow, look at that beard!”  I’m looking for different ages, ethnicities, and looks.  All applicants will be considered.

I’m talking about that tall girl at work with the big eyes and pink hair, or your uncle who has had dreads since 1976.

“Help me Obi-Won Kenobi, you’re my only hope”
So, this is where you come in. I need people.  Lot’s of people. And I need them fast.

So, please, take a minute, do some mental exercise and think of people who might work and have them email me (bill@billwadman.com) a little bit about themselves and a picture. Obviously, you can point them to my work at billwadman.com so they can see I’m not kidding around.  Please do it now before you forget!

Most of the month I’m going to be in New York City, though I may be taking a trip out west to Vegas/Zion NP the third week in.

1 Minute Rainy Day Meditation

Quick interview.

My friend Sarah Morgan did a little interview of me a while back and wrote it up on her blog today.  Might be an interesting read for those of you interested in how and why I make pictures.
